Servers are back

The servers are back online, and The Chosen One is broadcasting. Yay!

Server issues

Apparently our servers are down, the company's site doesn't come up either. I'm guessing they've had an outage. We'll post to the blog as soon as we know that they're back up.

Ventrilo, World of Warcraft, being banned

Well, we've found another issue, namely that people feel the need to use our Ventrilo server as a World of Warcraft playground, and it doesn't seem to be going away. For now, here's what's happening.

We'll be watching for people, and banning them. What this means for you as a listener is, well, if you come on and a DJ or somebody talks to you, at least say hi or something. If your Ventrilo isn't working or something, get in touch with msn or such and let somebody know so we can try to fix it. Once you get banned it's a chunk of work to unban you, and I'm not too inclined to go chasing down bans. Just in case, if you have a friend or such who plays WOW and they get banned, let me be blunt, I don't care. This server's for the station and the listeners, not morons to use for their online gaming. Ventrilo's pretty cheap, if they want to do that, they can go pay for their own server.

So basically, it's really pretty unlikely any actual listener will have problems. But now you know what's going on and how not to get banned, heh.

The team's been at it again

Well kids, the team's been at it again, and we've now got Ventrilo chat! We're trying it for a month to see how it goes. None of us have ever used Ventrilo before, so if we screw it up, be nice! :) Thanks to our dedicated webmistress, the link is up right now for you to check it out. Of course, nobody's likely to be on unless a show is taking place, but still ...

So go to the site, grab the Ventrilo client that matches your operating system and get it set up, and click on the link to talk to us live. If you need help with getting ventrilo set up, ask the current dj or email management.

UPDATE!

Thanks again to our awesome webmistress, and the inept writing of yours truly, we've got basic setup tips to get you started with Ventrilo. Feel free to mail us with suggestions for improvements, since I wrote them they could probably use it.

Stonewolf is doing covers

This Sunday on Stonewolf's Accident Waiting to happen, it's all covers! Some good, some horrible, some funny, but all covers. Plus, there are rumors he'll be archiving the show, in case you miss it. But do try to catch it, because he does a damn fine show.

New site, new servers

Well, after lots of work, the new site and the new servers are up and running, yes, even dialup! We support a lot more players now, we've got links to them on the listen page if you don't have one, there's a clock showing current Eastern time on the schedule page, so you can figure out just how the schedule relates to your own timezone. Then there's this blog, of course. If you encounter any problems with the site or the servers, please get in touch with management. Hopefully buffering and strange speed issues and such are a thing of the past. Finally, I'd like to thank everybody for all the hard work they put in to get this done as quickly as possible.

Lots of updates

Welcome to our new blog! This is one of the updates, a place to go for, well what else, updates! I'm your host, DJ Khomus. Lots of updates, so let's get to it.

The Chosen One has been having internet issues, so in case he's not doing a show, that's why. He's getting newer and hopefully better service in a couple weeks, but hopefully his current service will work well enough that he can do some shows.

Speaking of things not working, have you noticed the dialup stream is either dead or sounds like chipmunks? Have you noticed that the broadband stream sometimes buffers and skips like it's off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz? Well if you have, and you've been wondering about it, rest assured that we've noticed it as well. We've been taking the time to find a better stream hosting company, and we think we've finally done it. Work will hopefully be completed on migrating the station to the new host in a day, and there will be changes to the site as well, so check it out.

If you normally go to the site to click and listen, this doesn't mean anything to you except hopefully better broadband and a working dialup stream, which, come to think of it, is really quite a lot. But if you generally play the station from winamp or windows media player or whatever, then you'll have to go to the site and click on the listen link, because the address to the streams will be changing. After that, you should be able to play it from within your application again, the way you used to.
